General block-scheme of VOS-RT.
Maximum forecast period of the model is 68 hours from the current moment.
The paper On-line Modeling Technique for the Oil Spill Fate as Applied
to the North-Eastern Sakhalin Shelf (The First Internet Version)
describing VOS-RT model is available in CREAMS2000 proceedings (in electronic version also).
The following steps for the work with model are:
- Creating of special e-mail with oil spill source parameters (by the two ways: Web-interface or manually)
- Sending of the e-mail to OilSpillRobot@hydromet.com
- Calculating the results by the model (it may take from 5 min to 1 hour) and sending back by E-mail with attached file (Microsoft Word 97 and ESRI ArcView 8.2 format)
Output results contain:
- Graphical materials: area of North-Eastern Sakhalin with oil spill source,
oil spill transport trajectories, shoreline impact places,
spill forms by time
- Table materials: shoreline impact characteristics, area and thickness of spill,
averaged forecast wind information, physical-chemical characteristics
